https://www.freedos.org FreeDOS Organization. FreeDOS is a 16 bit operating system that is designed to be kernel compatible with MS-DOS 3.3. FreeDOS is also published under the GPL. FreeDOS is still not quite ready for prime time but, if you would like to help, there are many things still left to do including testing for those who are not programmers. For those who are programmers, FreeDOS is written primarily in the C language with a bit of ASM thrown in.
